All cards are playable; replacement is not necessary, you can only add new ones. If you think so, it does not mean that everyone thinks so. Players choose those cards that they like and like.

You shouldn’t blame the mapper, when the opportunity arose to learn and try, then why not use this opportunity, this mapper still produces good maps to this day.
Regarding your proposed cards, I repeat, you can add, but there is one thing, but experienced players will get you, there are gaps in the cards that they will use and break through walls, breaking lasers is much easier - small and open holes.
