de_inferno in Counter-Strike: Source: routes, points and team play
Inferno differs from more open maps in that many decisions must be made in tight passages and near short forks. One early contact can completely change the plan of a round. Particularly useful here is patience, joint exits, and understanding when to continue the pressure and when to turn around and attack another point.
What is the scenario for de_inferno
de_inferno - map with a scenario for planting and defusing a bomb. The terrorists have two targets to set up, and the defense must distribute the players so as not to lose one of the points after the first contact.
In Counter-Strike: Source, the map is built around several tight areas, courtyards, buildings and passages between them. Therefore, sound, grenades and the team's ability to quickly gather before leaving are of great importance.
Why does Inferno punish single exits?
In a narrow passage, it is easier for the defender to maintain the desired angle in advance, and it is more difficult for the attacker to use the numerical advantage if the team is stretched out. The first player may die instantly, and the second will be too far away to exchange.
Before attacking, it is useful to wait for two or three allies and agree on who is checking the close position, who is looking deeper, and who is carrying the bomb. Even without complex tactics, such simple discipline makes a big difference in the quality of the round.
Playing as a T: Pressure does not necessarily mean attacking
-
1
Show presence
Take the safe part of the direction and force the defense to pay attention to you without giving players away unnecessarily.
-
2
Gather information
Listen to grenades, footsteps and allied messages. If the defense has spent a lot of resources on one side of the map, the other may become more convenient for attack.
-
3
Get ready before going out
Don't turn your attack into a queue of single duels. A joint exit gives a chance to immediately exchange the first player.
-
4
After installation, play from the task
Don't chase defenders all over the map. Block off the approaches to the point and force the CT to take risks during neutralization.
Playing as CT: Don't give away space for free
It is important for the defense to understand the difference between holding a position and taking pointless risks. If you've received information about an attack and can safely retreat to the next corner, sometimes this is better than taking the fight one-on-one against multiple players.
Inferno also teaches rotations. When you hear activity at another point, do not immediately run there with the whole team. The remaining terrorist can deliberately create noise to reveal the opposite direction. Before moving, it is useful to wait for confirmation from an ally or to see a bomb.
What to train on Inferno
Checking near corners
On a tight map, the opponent is often closer than expected. Don't just aim at distant positions.
Dimensions
Move at such a distance from an ally that after contact you can engage in battle immediately, and not after a few seconds.
Working with sound
Footsteps and grenades help you understand how many players are nearby and whether an attack is actually starting.
Change of pace
Not every round has to be fast. Sometimes the pause after the first shootout causes the opponent to make more mistakes than another rush.
How to study Inferno without getting overwhelmed
First learn the route from your start to both points and one safe route between the directions. Then add the names of the positions that you actually hear from players on the server. This way the map is remembered through real situations, and not through a long list of terms.
After a few matches, see where you most often die without being able to respond. This usually shows not a lack of response, but an angle that you are not yet accustomed to checking.
