Counter-Strike: Source system requirements

Most modern desktops and laptops are significantly more powerful than the official CSS requirements. If a game runs poorly on a relatively new PC, the cause is often in settings, drivers, power saving mode, overheating or background load, rather than in the minimum power of the computer itself.

You should not focus only on the fact of launch. For an online shooter, it is more important to achieve a stable frame rate without sudden drops, because it is constant FPS that makes control and aiming more predictable.

The old official description of Counter-Strike: Source lists Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. This data reflects the requirements of the game itself at its time. For a modern computer, use a supported version of Windows and up-to-date hardware drivers.

Start with native resolution or moderately reduced resolution and reduce the heaviest graphics settings. There is no need to immediately copy random configs from the Internet: first look at what FPS your computer gets.
